★ SO, BEACONHILLS WAS lying down beside a tree, thinking about his long-deceased mother, Claudia. The brown tabby felt hot, salty tears prick his dark green eyes as he remembered seeing her face for about five seconds before his father covered his eyes. He missed her terribly. But there was someone he missed more.
At the thought of her, a single tear rolled down his cheek. He remembered when they first met as kids. They were just sitting outside the nursery and talking. He also remembered that he had instantly fallen in love with her.
God, he had loved her so much. He pushed the thought of his dead girlfriend to the back of his mind. He'd done so well for so long, and now he was just in ruins again.
Someone told him once that there was five stages of death. First, the death occurs. Second, depression. Third, quiet mourning. Fourth, accepting it. And the fifth was the hardest of all. Moving on.
He could never move on from Ocean. She was far too important. He'd gotten to the third step, which was still pretty hard on him. He could never accept that she was gone. Ever. And he most certainly couldn't move on.
Beaconhills didn't even notice Abandonedbride's presence beside him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Abby asked, a soft tone to her mew. "Are you ok, Beacon?" Though they weren't the closest of friends, barely even friends honestly, Abandonedbride still felt like she had the right to know. There was sincerity in her gaze, which wasn't there often.
★ HE JUMPED BACK into reality as Abby spoke. He couldn't speak for a few moments but he answered her soon enough. "N-no.. I'm not okay," he sighed gently. The brown tabby looked her in the eye, his gaze glowing with despondency.
"Yeah, I can see that. What's up?" Abby asked, looking straight into his eyes, needing to know the answer. She wasn't the one to cry about things, more the kind of gal to get up and solve her problems, but she understood that people were different. Maybe Beaconhills' problem was different than one she had ever experienced. She had just become a warrior not too long ago, and had never experienced heartbreak. Her parents were never really there for her growing up, but she got over the fact she didn't have any. She blinked away the memories, focusing back onto the tomcat she was talking to. "Beacon, you can tell me anything and you know it."
★ BEACON MOVED HIS paw to wipe his eyes. "D-did you ever know her? Oceantides?" he started, words laced with unspoken curiosity. He blinked, letting the last tears fall from his eyes, and studied her face. He wondered what Abby had gone through in her life. She was a strong and capable girl - Beaconhills knew that well - so he doubted nothing too bad had happened to her. She was lucky.
"I've hear of her no, but I was never really a friend." Abby mewed, blinking. She tried to picture Oceantides in her head, but she didn't get very hard, as her memories of the past were beginning to fade away, being replaced by new ones. She smiled sincerely at Beacon, knowing the pain of losing someone. "Do you miss her?" She asked, wrapping her tail tightly around her front paws.
