It was three days ago since the death of Sunsetstar had come. He remembered running the forest, so close to saving her, but still being much too late. He had been the one to hear her scream, not the others. He had lay with her, begging her to stay, telling her that she'd be okay. She had only lay there, the pain growing worse, until finally, she died, without a word spoken. Infinitestar had been left in shock.
He had been the one to have to return to camp and tell his clanmates. Sharing the news that their territory wasn't safe anymore, that they'd have to move. Sunsetstar wouldn't get a vigil in her death place. She'd have to have it in a new place. Infinite had hated leaving her body behind, but it had had to have been done. Surely she'd understand, in StarClan.
Their new camp was built, and Infinitestar had just settled into his den when, in his mind, StarClanners approached him.
"Greetings, Infinitestar. We have come to give you your lives, seeing as though there is no place that you can go to yet."
He didn't recognize the she-cat at first, but then it dawned on him. It was Winterfur, an old queen who had died just moments after giving birth.
She touched his head with her muzzle, and then said, "I give you this life of courage. It will drive you on through the hard times." It was then he felt pain travelling through his body and yowled out. But soon, it would all be over.
A little while later, and he had received more lives - one for calmness, another for love, a fourth for happiness, the fifth for strong mindedness. The sixth was for thinking, seventh for desire, and the eighth for faith.
The last life was from Sunsetstar.
"Infinitestar. It is lovely to see you again, dear. Your final life is for remembrance and celebration. It will help you to get over my death a little easier. Enjoy how my life was, do not grieve over it, my friend. Remember, I will always be watching over you. Fallenkingdom is right beside you as well."
And then he woke up.
